Official Contest Rules:

By submitting a photograph the person certifies that he or she has the right to submit and/or publish such photograph. Model releases are the responsibility of the entrant and should be available in the event the photo is a winner. Images submitted for consideration in the contest may not be electronically altered reprints.

Winning entrants must be able to present the original negative or slide for verification. Entrants may submit three photographs for judging.

Photographs will not be returned.

Entrance fee is $15 per group of three photos. You may submit as many photographs as you like.

Theme:

Scuba Diving of course! Not just underwater photographs, but any photograph that relates to the sport of scuba diving.  There are now more categories in which you can enter photographs as shown below:

PROFESSIONAL – Scuba diving photographs taken with adjustable type camera (i.e.: Nikon, Nikonos , Canon).

AMATEUR -  Scuba diving pictures taken with non adjustable cameras (i.e.: Sea & Sea. MX5, MX10, SeaLife Reef Master).

GREEN WATER – Underwater photographs taken in green water, such as local diving.

BLUE WATER – Underwater photographs taken in blue water such as in the Caribbean.

Categories not receiving submissions from at least two contestants will be closed for judging.

Eligibility

Any member in good standing of the DIVEMASTERS Association of Virginia.

Judging

All photographs will be displayed for view in their original format at the annual Christmas Party and in electronic format at:
http://www.divealot.com.  

Prior to selection of the winners, all photographs will be identified by a unique submission number.

After the announcement of the winners, the photographs will be identified by the photographer’s name and remain on display for at least 30 days.

Judging will be conducted by all members of the DIVEMASTERS Association. You do not have to submit a photograph to judge. Each judging form must be signed by the club member submitting the form. You may not judge your own submissions. Judging forms will be reviewed by club officers prior to being entered into the judging results. Judging forms will be provided at the annual Christmas Party.

The form will list all of the photographs by their submission number and provide an area to select a photograph for each category as indicated below:

BEST - FIRST PLACE WINNER

BETTER - SECOND PLACE WINNER

GOOD - THIRD PLACE WINNER

Scoring

At the end of the photo contest, the scores for each photograph will be added up, and the winners will be announced for the highest overall scores.

In the event of a tie, a panel of not less than two club officers will determine the winning entry. Any winning photo cannot be re-entered in any subsequent photo contests with the DIVEMASTERS Association.
 
The DIVEMASTERS Association reserves the right to publish photographs submitted, with appropriate credit given to the photographer. The photographer retains full copyright to his/her images.

Although special care will be taken in handling every entry, DIVEMASTERS Association cannot be held responsible for loss, damage, or delays occurring during transportation or judging.

Participation in the contest indicates acknowledgment of the contest rules and acceptance of those rules.

NOTE: Each submission must include the following information, or it will not be considered:

Full name, place, and date of photo,
description of photo, and submission category. All entries must be received by the December deadline. Winners will be announced at the annual Christmas party.  You do not have to be present to win.
