DMAV Raffle Kitty is growing!

Each club meeting now includes a raffle that club members may participate in.  Raffle tickets cost $1 per ticket (or 3 tickets for $2).   All funds from the raffle are placed in the Raffle Kitty.

At the end of each meeting, a raffle ticket is drawn, and the lucky holder of that ticket stub wins $10.

In addition, the winner selects one card at random from a deck of cards.  If they select the Queen of Hearts, they win half of all the monies in the Raffle Kitty.  If the Queen of Hearts is not drawn, the selected card is discarded from the deck .  Both the deck and  the Raffle Kitty are saved for next month's lucky winner

Make sure to attend our next meeting, and you could be the next lucky winner!

July diving aboard the Miss Lauren had calm seas and 50 foot visibility

DMAV members who attended the club diving trip (Sunday, July 21) on the Miss Lauren out of Virginia Beach enjoyed very calm seas and 50 foot visibility.  Diving was on the Brass Spike and the wreck of the Hanks.

The Brass Spike is a wooden hulled steam assisted sailing vessel that we discovered in 1994. And originally a Brass sextant was found lying in the sand. This vessel has brass spikes (thus the name) in the hull and contains some of the biggest tautog you will ever see.

The Hanks is a clam dredge that sank in rough seas southeast of Rudee Inlet. The wreck is intact and upright with a slight list to port. A fun wreck to dive!
