August Open Water SCUBA Diver Course

Course Description

Open Water Scuba Diver is the first scuba diving certification, opening the door to a lifetime of adventures.  Reserve your seat in our next Scuba Diver Class.  A highly-trained Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.  Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology (either offline or online), then learn basic scuba skills in a pool (or pool-like environment) with a highly trained Instructor. When you're ready, make four dives in an open water environment (the ocean, a lake) with your instructor supporting you every step of the way.  By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world.

UNDERWATER ADVENTURES OPEN WATER SCUBA DIVER COURSE – CHOOSE BETWEEN NAUI OR PADI CERTIFICATION

TUITION: $500.00

All classroom sessions are held and begin promptly at Underwater Adventures in Hampton. All pool sessions are held in an indoor heated Olympic size swimming pool with a 13’ depth at the new Hampton AquaPlex facility located at 1908 Coliseum Drive in Hampton.  Please inquire if interested in Private Instruction.

Each class consists of 3 Days of a 2-Hour Classroom Session followed by a 2-Hour Pool Session

WEEKEND SCHEDULE: (3 Days) Classes meet at UWA on Friday (4 PM - 8 PM), Saturday and Sunday (10 AM - 3 PM).

Additional days may be added, as determined by the Instructor.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:

Bathing suit, towel, writing pad, and pen NAUI Textbook Package, includes e-Learning on NAUI.org, Textbook, Dive Log & Dive Table ($139.95). Each student must purchase their own textbook package from UWA, as the required e-Learning correlates with your Instructor’s NAUI Certification Number and UWA’s Facility Number. PADI e-Learning is $230.00. Scuba quality gear to include mask, fins (open heel for diving), snorkel, and booties. (Scuba quality items are fitted to you personally and are available for purchase at Underwater Adventures. The online stores cannot fit your gear to you properly.)

Proper equipment is essential to learning, and the proper selection of this equipment is extremely important. Please consult with Underwater Adventures BEFORE you purchase!! Snorkeling sports gear (from Dicks or Costco) is not permitted for use during your dive training.

Scuba equipment is provided at no additional cost for the duration of the program conducted in the pool, including regulator, buoyancy compensator, soft lead, tanks and air.

OPEN WATER DIVES: LAKE PHOENIX, RAWLINGS, VA (www.LakePhoenixVA.com) Open water dives will take place on Saturday and Sunday (must be completed on consecutive days). Your instructor will provide the dates for the scheduled open water dive days for your class. Student is responsible for lake entrance fees ($66.00 for 2 days). For those students who have not purchased their own equipment for their open water dives, a regulator, buoyancy compensator, tank, and wetsuit must be rented from Underwater Adventures, as non-certified individuals may not rent Scuba related gear. Wetsuits will require 16 - 24# of weights for the open water dives (soft lead may be rented or purchased). Hood and gloves are required for cold water temperatures (April, May, October, November) and are available for purchase at Underwater Adventures. A NAUI Certification Card ($40.00) or PADI Certification Card ($65.00) will be issued upon successful completion.
