The Open Water Diver Course is our entry-level scuba certification program during which you will learn the fundamental knowledge and skills to safely scuba dive in open water.  When you complete your class, you and your buddy will be free to explore and discover the many wonders of the underwater world.  Come on and dive in ~~ a lifetime of fun, adventure, memories, experiences, and new friends await you!  Your Instructor will teach you about dive equipment, the science of diving, responsible diving practices, and the environment.  You will also learn many skills in the water with practice time for your safety and comfort.  You will then complete your training with a minimum of four open water dives.  Sign up for your class, grab your mask, fins, and snorkel, and get ready to have FUN!

Let your underwater adventure continue!

The Advanced Scuba Diver Course is the next step in your underwater adventure as an already certified scuba diver.  Apply your scuba skills as you explore new dive sites and activities under the supervision and training of your Instructor.  Learn which diving specialties interest you, and what type of diving you enjoy most.  Advanced training provides Scuba Divers with a structured, well-supervised means to gain additional diving experience and expertise in his or her newfound underwater world.  Gain more confidence and capability.  As part of your certification, you will complete a minimum of six open water dives, including three separate dives for navigation, night or low visibility diving, and deep diving (130 feet maximum depth), plus three different dives.  Some of the many different dives you can do that will broaden your awareness and capabilities include shore diving, boat diving, wreck diving, search and recovery, drift diving, and many more.

Once you become an Advanced Scuba Diver, a whole world of exciting opportunities await you.  Whatever your scuba and skin diving needs, we can help you realize your dreams!

Once you are 15 years of age and a certified scuba diver, you can expand your diving knowledge with a Rescue Scuba Diver or Advanced Rescue Scuba Diver course. Learn how to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies, how to assist and transport divers, and how to perform surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat and shore based skin and scuba divers.

Gain the in-depth knowledge and experience that will distinguish you as a leader in any diving club or group. Thrill to the adventure of open-water dives in settings that will test skills and expand your diving capabilities and experience. Your success allows you to proudly carry the most coveted and respected certification card in recreational diving – the Master Scuba Diver certification.

During training, students will engage in a minimum of eight open-water dives, including the following required dives:

  • Emergency procedures and rescue

  • Deep/simulated decompression diving

  • Limited visibility or night diving

  • Underwater navigation – search and recovery – light salvage

Progression of Leadership Training (Leadership and Instructor Levels)

The leadership and instructor levels of certification are:

  • Skin Diving Instructor

  • Assistant Instructor

  • Divemaster

  • Instructor

The Skin Diving Instructor certification qualifies individuals to train and certify skin divers and conduct snorkeling experience programs.

Both the Assistant Instructor and Divemaster ratings allow individuals to attend an Instructor Training Course to be trained and qualified as Instructors.

Despite all the best training and planning, sometimes the unexpected happens. Whether due to environmental conditions, medical emergencies or accidents, divers and professionals may be called upon to intervene. In order to be prepared, UWA provides training in First Aid, CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, DAN Emergency Oxygen (EO2) Administration, Neurological Assessment, and First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries. All training complies with the latest International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Standards and AHA guidelines.  DFA Pro is the most comprehensive first aid course in the dive industry.  While geared toward dive instructors and divemasters, anyone, even nondivers, will learn an indispensable set of first aid and  risk-mitigation skills.  First aid training and incident management skills empower people to step up and take action should these situations arise.

With DFA PRO training, you are not only among the best trained divers in the world, you will also be among the best prepared to respond in the unlikely event of a diving emergency or accident.
